New Bed Update

Caroline did great sleeping through the night in her new bed! She woke up once during the night and fell back to sleep, on her own, in just a few minutes. She slept until 6:45am and even called for me when she woke up, but waited for me to get her before she climbed out of bed! Hopefully, it will continue this way...

New Big Girl Bed!

Caroline's "new big girl bed" arrived today! She could barely contain herself while the delivery men were putting it together in her room. She kept saying, "Go and see! Go and see, now?" When they were finally finished, she ran right into her room and climbed right up on to it then, climbed right off, gathered all her favorite toys, books, and stuffed animals and put them on the bed with her. She even lined up all her babies and told me, "Shhh! They're sleeping!".

At bed time tonight, Brett and I weren't really sure how it was going to go, but she did great! We could hear her on the monitor playing for a little bit and within five minutes or so it was quiet. Now we'll have to see what happens when she wakes up in the middle of the night and is confused or wakes up at 5:00am and thinks she can climb right out and start her day! Wish us luck!

Baby Birdies

We have a bird's nest on our front porch with baby birds in it. We were all out on the porch watching the Mommy bird feed her baby birds, when the Mommy bird flew away from the nest. Caroline was very upset that the Mommy bird left her babies. Apparently, she thought that the Mommy bird "went to the store" without her babies. She said she was going to sing the ABCs to make the babies feel better.

The Best Day Ever!

At least that is probably what Caroline was thinking. Yesterday we had a whole day of no rain! It has rained here almost every day for about 3 weeks (as I write this it is once again POURING outside). To see the sun shining and birds chirping yesterday was such a treat. Caroline started her day with a trip to the pool with Daddy and her little buddy Bryan and Bryan's Daddy. For lunch she had her favorite (peanut butter and jelly sandwich and yogurt on the side) and she even went down for her nap without much protest (which has been a BIG issue this whole week!). After her nap, believe it or not, it STILL was sunny, so we took her to one of the bigger playgrounds to run around. Brett and I had early dinner plans last night with our friends Sara & Matt and Michelle & James, so at 5:00pm, our frineds came over and dropped off their two little ones (Caroline's bestest friends Bryan and Amelia) and our sitter came to watch all three and give them all a pizza dinner. She even brought them to the park in our neighborhood after dinner. We didn't get home until about 9, so she even got to stay up late. I'm telling you, for a two year old, could there be a better day?

On another note, I am in the process of switching over my teacher certification to our current state just to keep things updated for my tutoring. I took a practice test last week and didn't do so hot, so I was a little worried for the actual test. I had to take the first half of the certification exam yesterday morning and found out that I got 91 out of 100. Thank goodness! It was a good day for all, apparently!

Update on the big girl bed: We are still waiting for delivery. We were told we would get a call last week to set up delivery time, but when that didn't happen by Fri. I called them and they said it would probably be in by Mon. and they would call at the beginning of this coming week. So hopefully, that will happen so we can get this transition process started!

Caroline "Big Girl" and Baby News

We have ordered Caroline's "big girl bed"! We have been talking to her about it a lot and I hope it will be a smooth transition. Yesterday we went out together and bought her sheets, a pillow and a mattress pad, so she'll be all ready when it arrives. It should be delivered either this week or next week, so we'll see how that goes. We took out the rocker and ottoman from her room last weekend and she didn't mind a bit, but I kind of having a feeling the crib will be a different story! We'll keep you posted! We'll put some pictures up of her newly decorated room then , too!

I also had my 26 week appt. this week. Everything is looking good. I have gained 18 pounds so far this pregnancy. I will be having another ultrasound at 32 weeks to check the position of the placenta. Hopefully it will have moved up a bit by then, so that there won't be any more talk about a possible scheduled C-section. I will be seeing the OB every two weeks now. I do my glucose test at my next appointment (YUCK!), as well as get my shot of Rhogam for the RH negative factor.
I'm not exactly sure why, but I feel pretty certain that we are having a boy. I could be totally wrong, but I just have a feeling. We'll just have to wait about another 13 weeks to find out! I never had a feeling either way with Caroline, so it will be interesting to see if "my feeling" is right!

More Drama than TNT!

I'm telling you, there is always some drama at our house! This Tues. night we had to bring Caroline into the ER again! I swear we have been to the hospital more times in the past 3 months than I have in the past 10 years! On Tues. night I was having all the neighborhood girls over to play Pokeeno and as people are still coming in the door, Caroline pulled on of the dining room chairs over on top of her and smacked her head against the corners of one of the stairs! After much crying and blood (and me almost passing out twice!) later we decided we should take her down to the ER to get looked at. So, we left the Pokeeno group at our house heading out. The doctor said it was "borderline" in need of stitches, so he used dermabond to literally glue the cut closed. 45 minutes, 2 lollipops, and many stickers later we were headed back home. We were told to put her to bed as usual and just check before we went to bed to make sure she wasn't showing any signs of a fever (which she wasn't). She was pretty sore than night waking every 4 hours in need of more Tylenol, but by Thurs. she was back to her normal self giving Brett and I heart attacks almost bumping her head crawling under tables and cutting corners close as she was running down the hallway!

At the Beach

It was so nice to get back to my parents' beach house in Isle of Palms! Caroline and I hadn't been there since last summer and Brett hadn't been back in two years. When we got there we met up with Ron and Kerri (Brett's brother and his wife) and their three kids Dylan, Brady and Hailey. It was so fun to see the four cousins together. They hadn't been together since Christmas, so it was fun to see how much everyone had changed in just 7 months. I was told by my OB to "take it easy" while away, so Brett once again stepped up and did all the shell hunting and running up and down the beach with Caroline. It was so cute to watch them, but I really wish I could have been more included in the actions! Caroline absolutely love the beach!

Every morning we went down to the beach and then brought the two little ones home for their naps. We had a babysitter that stayed with Caroline and Hailey while they were napping so that we could get out and go to lunch or go shopping. It was so nice to have the extra pair of hands! We were even able to use her at night so we could go out to dinner in Charleston with Ron and Kerri one night. After they left, Brett and I were able to go out for our 6th anniversary, too. It was absolutely worth it and I think we would definitely plan on having a sitter to help again. Ron and Kerri left on Sat. and our friends Megan and Shawn joined us for our last two days before heading down into Charleston. Caroline did great on the flight home, but it definitely took her a couple of days to get readjusted to our routine here. I think we are finally back on track though.
